Nature Nerds Family Club helps families get nature back on their calendars with a fun, hands-on adventure each month at Butterfly Pavilion!
Interested in composting? Crawdad catching? Ever wanted to taste a bug? We’ve got the adventure for you! Workshops take place one weekend day per month from 10:30 am -12 pm.
Members: $6 Adults, $4 Children (2 – 12)
Non-members: $14 Adults, $6 Children (2 – 12).
Includes admission to Butterfly Pavilion
Saturday August 25: Native Colorado Butterflies – at Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield Farms – 10:30am-12pm
Butterfly Pavilion’s seasonal habitat at Chatfield is home to hundreds of native butterflies such as swallowtails, monarchs, mourning cloaks and painted ladies! Explore native plants and butterflies with Butterfly Pavilion’s seasonal butterfly keeper, experience a nature trek on the farm at your own pace, and take home your own plantable milkweed seeds!
*Transportation not included. All participants will meet at Chatfield Farm: 8500 W Deer Creek Canyon Road, Littleton, CO 80128*
Saturday September 8: The Magical Monarch Migration – 10:30am-12pm
September is the time when monarch butterflies are here in Colorado! Join us as we learn about their magical life cycle and look for monarch butterflies and caterpillars here in our gardens!
Saturday October 6: Toxic Terrors! – 10:30am-12pm
Happy Bugtober! Join us for this goopy, oozy good time as we learn about the toxic terrors of the invertebrate world. We will even take home our own slime!
Saturday November 10: Salad Party! – 10:30am-12pm
It’s time to turnip the beet for a salad party! Families will learn how to grow their own salad greens from seeds, learn about parts of plants and their nutritional value, find out what grows best in what season, and harvest the salad greens for a delicious salad party!
Saturday December 1: Bugs and Bugsicles – 10:30am-12pm
Let’s get snug as a bug in a rug! Come join us for an exploration of hibernating bugs! Through games and crafts we will discover where bugs go in the winter and how they survive freezing temperatures.
- Pre-registration and pre-payment required. Nature Nerds Family Club workshops are best suited for families with children ages 4-10.

- Programs are not eligible for senior discounts. Children under 2 years old are free of admission, but content is not well suited for this age range.
