Class Filed Trips
Field Trip with a Facilitated Class -BEST VALUE!
Include a class facilitated by a Butterfly Pavilion educator to deepen the learning experience. Classes are infused with science content, aligned with academic standards, and feature engaging invertebrate investigations!
Days Offered: Sep 1–May 31, Monday-Friday
Session Times: 9:30, 10:30, 11:30, 12:30 (2 sessions per time slot)
Ages/Grades: PreK-Grade 8
Group Size Per Session: Minimum 10 students and one adult; maximum 50 students and one adult per 5 students.
Fee*: $5/student includes admission and one free adult for every 5 students; additional adults $11each.
*Scholarship may be available for eligible schools/youth groups.
Length of Visit/General Itinerary:
Depending on your arrival and class times, the order of your itinerary will differ.
* 75 minutes: self-led exploration of indoor and outdoor exhibits
* 45 minutes: Facilitated class
* 30 minutes: time for lunch at outdoor picnic tables or amphitheater
* TOTAL: approximately 2.5 hours

Buggy Basics K-5th grade 45 minutes
Through inquiry and direct experience with live animals, student scientists discover what makes an animal an invertebrate, why invertebrates are important, and how to distinguish insects, spiders, and other spineless creatures.
Life Cycles K-3rd grade 45 minutes
Students observe three animals that look very different and uncover the mystery of their connection – metamorphosis!

Outdoors along Butterfly Pavilion’s Big Dry Creek Nature Trail, students collect and compare data to reveal connections between abiotic and biotic components of an ecosystem.
