Become a Volunteer Educator at the Butterfly Pavilion! 

Volunteer Educator working with classroom studentsDo you want to share your passion about the natural world with others? The Butterfly Pavilion is seeking volunteers to assist in providing interactive, hands-on classroom presentations to visiting school groups. Help facilitate the ‘light bulb’ moment and watch as students get excited about insects, life cycles, and science!

Training for the volunteer educator position begins in February 2011 and will continue through the school year. Volunteers will come away with an understanding of arthropods and invertebrates, managing visitors in a group setting, and dynamic presentation techniques. Join us in making a difference. Applications are due January 5th, 2011.  Apply today to be a Youth Education Volunteer.

It’s a clear April day as I stand outside the Butterfly Pavilion. I survey the chaos that reigns all around me, as children excitedly wait for their field trip to begin. The Butterfly Pavilion combines science education with interactive fun to teach visitors about invertebrates and conservation. Our five immersive exhibits, including our rainforest filled with 1,600 free-flying tropical butterflies, provide a year-round, unforgettable experience. Visitors can get up close and personal with live animals, enjoy daily educational programs, explore the wonder of the outdoors on the nature trail, and discover the newest traveling exhibit. Butterflies are just the beginning.
