Q: Is the Butterfly Pavilion accessible by public transportation?
A: Yes, the Butterfly Pavilion is accessible by public transportation. If you live in the area, the B bus (Boulder local), Bus #10.

Q: Is there parking available at the Pavilion and how much does it cost?
A: Yes, there is a large parking lot right outside the museum doors. It is free to all visitors. If the parking lot and overflow parking lot is full, the AMC theaters on Promenade Blvd. across the street have an accessible parking lot.

Q:Is the Butterfly Pavilion wheelchair accessible?
A: Yes, the Butterfly Pavilion is wheelchair accessible and guests may request a wheelchair at the front desk (a photo ID must be left). Wheelchairs are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Q: Are strollers allowed in the Butterfly Pavilion?
A: Yes, strollers are allowed throughout the facility.

A: Yes, we accept Visa, American Express, Master Card and Discover

Q: Can I purchase tickets in advance?
A: No, advanced ticket sales are not available. Tickets are for general admission, may be purchased upon arrival and valid on the day of your visit only.

Q: What are the admission prices?
A: Adults- $9.50; Seniors-$7.50; Kids (2-12)- $6.50; Under 2 Years Old- Free

Q: Are there discounts available for admission?
A: Yes, you can find coupons on various websites or in the Entertainment Coupon book. Also, Westminster residents receive a reduced adult admission rate of $7.50 per person with a valid photo ID showing a Westminster, CO address.

Q: Are gift certificates available for purchase?
A: Yes, gift certificates and pre-paid tickets are available. You may either call the gift shop at (303) 469-5441 to order them or visit our gift shop next time you stop by.

Q: What's the best time of day to visit?
A: During school-group season, plan to visit either between 9 a.m. & 10 a.m. or after 1 p.m. We recommend the afternoon; you'll have more time to experience our exhibits, you won't get run over or crowded out by large groups of excited and exuberant children, you can take advantage of the afternoon sunshine and explore our nature trails and outdoor gardens, and there are two Spineless Spotlights that occur daily after 1 p.m.!

About the Facilities

Q: Does the Pavilion offer a coat check service?
A: No, there is no coat check service available or public coat racks.

Q: How long does it take to tour the facilities?
A: You can stay as long or as short as you want. On average, most patrons spend about 1 hour and 45 minutes touring our facilities.

Q: What all is included in the Butterfly Pavilion?
A: Wings of the Tropics, Crawl-a-Seem, Waters Edge, Tropical Odyssey, and the Gardens (which allow for hikes).

Q: How large are the gardens?
A: Our gardens include three main garden areas that cover 11 acres.

Q: When is the best time to tour the facility?
A: The best time to visit the Butterfly Pavilion is Monday afternoon on a sunny day (when its sunny, the butterflies are more active and visible). The busiest days are Fridays.

Q: Can I take pictures?

Q: Can I hold the butterflies?
A: We try to encourage patrons to refrain from touching the butterflies. On occasion, the butterflies can land on you.

Q: When is the facility closed?
A: The facility is open to the public 7 days a week, with the exception of Thanksgiving and Christmas day.

Q: May I arrange for a guided tour?
A: Unfortunately, we do not provide guided tours during business hours. We do, however, provide sunset strolls once a month. Visit our sunset strolls page  for more information.

Food and Drink

Q: What are the dining options available at the Butterfly Pavilion?
A: Visitors are encouraged to bring food or drinks for picnics that may be consumed outdoors at our picnic tables, otherwise no outside food or drink is allowed inside the Butterfly Pavilion. Only snacks purchased from the gift shop may be consumed indoors, and only in designated areas.

Q:Can I store my bags or lunch at the Butterfly Pavilion?
A: No, there is no place for bags or personal possessions. Bags must be carried at all times.

Q: Can I eat and drink in the Wings of the Tropics?
A: We do not allow food in the Wings of the Tropics exhibits for the safety of the butterflies.
