Notes: This species of sea star feeds on anemones, sea cucumbers, sea urchins, and such. It is found on rocky shores, in clean harbors on pilings and sea walls from low-tide lines to water 300 feet deep. This species is soft and has a slimy coating to protect it from predators. Many sea stars are able to regenerate an arm that has been broken off and some species can be cut in two with each half growing into a whole animal.
