Butterfly Pavilion Teacher Workshops provide quality professional development opportunities for educators of all kind! Designed to correlate with current education standards and trends, workshops cover a range of science topics, while incorporating art, literature and STEM based education. Recertification credit (with tuition fee) is available through the Colorado School of Mines (CSM) and payable during the workshop.

Project WILD Aquatic  

From the tiny mosquito to the giant squid, wildlife and humans are integrally connected.  The new Project WILD Aquatic guide for 2013 has just been released and is one of the most widely-used conservation and environmental education programs among educators of students in kindergarten through high school. Learn how to introduce these concepts and activities into your curricula while aligning your lessons with state standards.

There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly – that’s who! Using a variety of children’s literature focusing on bugs and other invertebrates, read and play with the language and unique art that makes these children’s books so memorable!

Secrets of the Rainforest - From Morphos to Malachites

Watch your curriculum come alive as we travel through the tropical rainforest. Discover the role butterflies play in diverse and disappearing rainforest ecosystems. Learn how to teach your class about sustainability and conservation in a compelling and understandable way. Our hands-on, interdisciplinary activities (science, art, literacy, geography, math) will complement and add to any classroom life science unit.

The Butterfly Pavilion combines science education with interactive fun to teach visitors about invertebrates and conservation. Our five immersive exhibits, including our rainforest filled with 1,600 free-flying tropical butterflies, provide a year-round, unforgettable experience. Visitors can get up close and personal with live animals, enjoy daily educational programs, explore the wonder of the outdoors on the nature trail, and discover the newest traveling exhibit.
