Magnified!: An Up Close and Personal Look at Invertebrates

December 3, 2011 - January 16, 2012

Join us for our annual student art show by submitting art created by your students! This year, take a closer look at the patterns, textures, and body parts that make the invertebrate world so interesting with our theme, Magnified!

 

Ideas for artwork:

  • Focus on just one part of a bug’s body (wings, antennae, eyes, etc.)!
  • Explore the patterns and colors displayed
  • Grab a magnifying glass and see what teeny tiny details become enlarged!
  • Look at invertebrates in their homes and habitats—under water, inside of
    plants, underground, etc.


Submission requirements:

  • 2-D artwork only
  • Artwork must be no larger than 24” x 36”
  • Topic of artwork must follow theme
  • Typed ID tag with student name, school, grade of student and teacher on the front of each piece
  • Typed list of all participating students from each teacher emailed separately to mcopan@butterflies.org
  • Artwork must be dropped off at the Butterfly Pavilion front desk between November 14 and November 28
  • Please label any folders/boxes/bins used for transporting artwork “Attn: Art Show”
  • Artwork must be picked up at the Butterfly Pavilion front desk between January 30 and February 6, 2012


Prizes:

  • Prizes will be awarded for 1st- 3rd place in two categories (Elementary and Junior/Senior High)
  • All students who submit a piece will receive a participation certificate
  • Prizes will be awarded in February 2012
  • All participating teachers will be entered in a drawing to win a $25 Butterfly Pavilion gift certificate!
