Tripod Photography Sessions
Relish a quiet hour of photography in our tropical conservatory before we open our doors to the general public. Snap photos of awakening butterflies and exotic tropical flowers in the morning light. Cost includes tripod photography as well as full-day admission to the Butterfly Pavilion. To download a copy of the Butterfly Pavilion's Photo Policy, including all rules and regulations, click here.
Pre-registration and pre-payment is required. Program is limited to 20 participants.
Cost: $8.50 member; $15 non-member
Participants supply own equipment.

Macro Photography Classes
Join us for an up-close and practical look at photographing invertebrates! Classes focus on photography of invertebrates in our gardens, along the natural trails, and inside the tropical conservatory. All skill levels are welcome!
Join Bob Krugmire and venture outside to explore our Discovery Gardens for photography opportunities focused on our local invertebrates in their native habitats. No experience with cameras or macro photography is necessary. All camera types can be used! Learn how to get the most out of your equipment, and gain more in-depth knowledge about photography equipment, software, and how to set up an amazing photo. Want to keep your camera from fogging up when entering the humid environment of our Wings of the Tropics exhibit?
Try out these tips:
- Bring a lens-safe cleaning cloth handy to wipe off fogging.
- Keep your camera out of the cold before coming in.
- Lenses with filters (like UV filters) may provide an additional barrier against moisture.
