Family Workshops

Family workshops are in-depth, hands-on classes for an adult and child pair. These are great opportunities to learn more about our extraordinary invertebrate animals, including butterflies, spiders, and millipedes. Intro to Entomo: Become a Scientist

July 31, 2010, 1:00-2:30 pm
9-12 year olds

Ever wonder what it’s like to be a scientist? Explore the science of entomology by learning about the world of freaky and fascinating invertebrates. Be amazed by creatures such as the Sumo Bugs, Living Mummies, and the Devil with Two Heads. Practice your scientific skills by interacting with live animals, going on an outdoor bug hunting exploration, and learning how some incredible bugs keep themselves safe from predators. Admission to the Butterfly Pavilion is included in workshop price.

$17 per child, $15 per member child

The Butterfly Pavilion combines science education with interactive fun to teach visitors about invertebrates and conservation. Our five immersive exhibits, including our rainforest filled with 1,200 free-flying tropical butterflies, provide a year-round, unforgettable experience. Visitors can get up close and personal with live animals, enjoy daily educational programs, explore the wonder of the outdoors on the nature trail, and discover the newest traveling exhibit. Butterflies are just the beginning.
