Right now, all around you, thousands of insects are doing strange and wonderful things! It’s time to grab a net, a jar, and a magnifying glass and see what you can discover about the secret lives of insects, spiders, and their buggy relatives. Participants will also have the chance to investigate the Butterfly Pavilion’s outdoor exhibits, and earn an exclusive “Bug Badge.” Dress to be outside.

Our very popular behind the scenes opportunity is back in 2011! Discover Butterfly Pavilion secrets and help zookeepers care for our animals in this exciting camp. You’ll also get the chance to hold Rosie the tarantula, visit her home, meet her coworkers, and see what she eats when she’s not walking around on our visitors’ hands.

Are you buggy about ladybugs, gaga over grasshoppers, or do you just have butterflies in your stomach? Insect enthusiasts and curious kiddos will all love their experiences at the Butterfly Pavilion as they get the chance to handle live animals, perform science experiments, create crafts, hike nature trails, and play games. We will discover new critters each of these four weeks as we delve further into the amazing world of invertebrates!

Bugabilities

Come one, come all and experience the wonders of the bug kingdom through outdoor explorations, games, crafts and live animal interactions! Learn about the incredible abilities of the world's smallest wonders: insects, spiders, butterflies, bees and scorpions.
Dragonfly's Tale
M - F, June 18 - 22, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., $130
This fun camp will combine nature and art! Participants will be introduced to invertebrates in Native American literature and culture. Each day will focus on a different folktale, followed by a related art project connected to the story.
