Camps and Classes
Butterfly Pavilion classes and camps are designed to provide kids with memorable experiences that connect them to nature and encourage an appreciation for science. Led by a dynamic education team, our classes and camps incorporate exploration, inquiry, art, drama and play for programs that appeal to variety of interests and abilities.
Discounts apply to Butterfly Pavilion members, as well as members of camp partner organizations.

Bug Hunt
Right now, all around you, thousands of insects are doing strange and wonderful things! It’s time to grab a net, a jar, and a magnifying glass and see what you can discover about the secret lives of insects, spiders and their buggy relatives. Campers will also have the chance to investigate the Butterfly Pavilion’s outdoor exhibits, and earn the exclusive “Bug Badge.”

Secrets of the Butterfly Pavilion
What do spiders do when we’re not watching? Do sea stars have a secret? Discover all the fascinating behind the scenes secrets of the Butterfly Pavilion in this exciting camp. Become a zookeeper for a day as we help them care for our animals and reveal what Rosie does when she’s not walking on our visitor’s hands!

Buggy Buffet
Bone(less) appetit! Our spineless specimens require you to have a strong “backbone” to explore the world of insects with an unexpected sense--taste! Discover the role of insects in exotic diets as you crunch your way around the world. Campers will then take their know-how to the kitchen and whip up bug-inspired banquet.

A Bug's Life Series
Explore the amazing world of invertebrates with this series focused on a different animal each week. Your young scientist will explore, discover, and investigate incredible butterflies, awesome arachnids, fascinating crawdads, and intriguing bees while learning more about their habitats.
- Dates: July 10, 17, 24 and 31 (Wednesday Series) or July 11, 18, 25 and August 1 (Thursday Series)
- Time: 10:00 - 12:00, or 2:00 - 4:00
- Age: 5 - 9 years
- Fee: $15 a class or $50 for the full series
Flyfishing Class
Don’t let this fun summer experience be the “one that got away!” Join us and the flyfishing experts from Angling University as we discover the relationship between bugs and this fascinating hobby. Then we will “cast” our cares away at Westminster Pond, so bring a lunch on this unforgettable day trip! Gear provided by Angling University.

Bugabilities - Two offerings!
Come one, come all, and experience the wonders of the bug kingdom through outdoor exploration, games, crafts, and live animal interactions! Learn all about the incredible abilities of the world’s smallest wonders.

- Fee: $130, $245 when combined with Bugs and Brushes or Winged Wonders for a full day (9:00 - 4:00)
Bugs and Brushes Art Camp
Imagination and creativity are must-haves during this fun afternoon arts and crafts camp! Using nature, animals, and folktales as artistic inspiration—your child is sure to bring home a masterpiece.

- Time: 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 pm*
- Age: 5 - 9 years

Nature Explorers
How do animals survive in the wild? Would you be able to? Explore the wild and wonderful world around you as we see what it takes to survive in the Colorado wilderness. Learn fun survival skills like how to build a shelter, how to find water, navigation, tracking, and wildlife identification.
- Dates: July 29 - August 2, 2013
- Time: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm, AM and PM camp options available
- Age: 5 - 9 years
- Fee: $130 half day, $245 full day
Winged Wonders - Two Offerings!
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a butterfly! Discover the magic of flight with the Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory as we study flight and how both birds and bees alike do it. Through outdoor explorations, hikes, scavenger hunts, crafts, and nature journaling, campers will explore bird behavior, adaptations, and habitats in this sky high summer camp.
