
BUTTERFLY PAVILION PHOTO POLICY
PHOTOGRAPHY CONSENT AND RELEASE. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!
By entering the Pavilion you consent to the photographing and videographing of you and any minor children accompanying you by the Butterfly Pavilion and the media. You grant the Butterfly Pavilion the right to use images of you and any minors accompanying you in all forms for all purposes, including any advertising, trade or commercial purpose, and you waive all royalty and compensation rights. If you desire not to be photographed or videographed, please inform the admissions desk.
NON-COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY
Visitors to the Butterfly Pavilion are welcome to photograph the grounds, both inside and outside under general admission rates during normal business hours. Only monopods are allowed, tripods are not allowed (unless used during a class or scheduled photo session outside of normal business hours). Patrons photographing the facility are required to share the space with other visitors; closing an exhibit or area is prohibited. Photos taken at the Butterfly Pavilion must be for your personal use only (including recreational use and photo contests). Commercial photography is prohibited without written permission from the Butterfly Pavilion. After-hours commerical photography sessions can be arranged for a fee, see below.
The Butterfly Pavilion offers various photography opportunities and workshops, including a tripod open session the third Tuesday of the month, and macro photography workshops during the summer. The open sessions and workshops are for non-commerical photographers. Photographers registered with Secretary of State in Colorado or any state for the purpose of business cannot participate in the classes or workshops with the intention to use the photos for commerical purposes. COMMERICAL PHOTOGRAPHY/VIDEO
All commerical photography sessions must be approved and scheduled through the Private Events Supervisorat the Butterfly Pavilion. Photography session fees are as follows: $50 sitting fee and $75 per hour for groups of 5 or less. Each additional person is $15. (Example: a two (2) hour session with six people would cost $215.)
Photo sessions are limited to the time and date available, and if possible, should be prearranged at least 2 business days in advance of the intended date. The Pavilion is not able to accommodate drop-in photography sessions. The Butterfly Pavilion reserves the right to turn away commerical photographers who meet any of the above criteria if they have not booked in advance. MEDIA INQUIRIES
All media sessions must be approved through the Butterfly Pavilion Marketing Department. This includes any content intended for print, radio, television, or film. All media requests will be handled separately from all other photography. Please contact the Marketing Director, Jenifer Doane, at 720.974.1864 to discuss your needs and make arrangements.
Butterfly Pavilion Rules and Regulations for Commerical Photography Sessions
1. Photographers and any crew members shall not touch, handle, disturb or bring harm to Butterfly Pavilion animals, including the butterflies in the conservatory, during photography sessions.
2. Photographers shall not move, alter or disturb the Butterfly Pavilion’s flora (plant life) without the assistance of Pavilion staff.
3. Nudity is not allowed at anytime anywhere in the Butterfly Pavilion.
4. No animals may be brought into the facility, except for certified guide animals.
5. No plants may be brought into the facility without the written consent of the Butterfly Pavilion.
6. Photographers must disclose prior to the photography session all props that will be used during the photography session.
7. No animals shall be removed from the Butterfly Pavilion, and extreme effort must be taken to contain animals i.e. doors closed and not propped open, crew members look for hitch hiking butterflies, etc.
8. Guests must abide by all posted signs and rules.
9. Supplemental lighting must be pre-approved for the safety of the animals (i.e. butterflies) and existing lighting cannot be altered.
10. Photographers must have liability insurance coverage (and may be requested to provide a copy.)
11. No food or drink is allowed in the conservatory
12. Photography shoots requesting the use of animals require a zookeeper and thus may have an additional charge.
13. Temperatures, humidity and lighting all play a role in the health and safety of our animals and plants. Requests to adjust the shade cloths, heating fans, mist system and vents will be under the authority of the curatorial and horticulture departments and must be pre-approved
14. Rearrangement of hardscape elements (including benches, signs and displays) can only occur with the permission and supervision of a Butterfly Pavilion employee.
15. An explanation of how and where the photos will be used may be required prior to the shoot.
