Help Us Protect Our Animals

Animals living in the Tropical Conservatory roam free, unimpeded by cages. Oils and bacteria carried on human hands and touch can stress the animals, shortening their lifespan. By not touching the animals, visitors help keep them safe and healthy.

Tropical Conservatory
Explore our 7,200 square-foot tropical rainforest, home to more than 1,600 live butterflies and over 200 plant species from around the world. Witness butterflies emerging from their chrysalides and watch us release them into their rainforest habitat during our Butterfly Encounters.
  • Wings of the Tropics is a habitat for tropical butterflies, but other creatures, such as fish and turtles also make their home here.
  • The climate in our rainforest is kept consistently warm and moist, just like the native environments of our tropical butterflies.
  • The Butterfly Pavilion purchases about 600-1000 butterfly chrysalids each week from butterfly farms located in rainforests around the globe, contributing over $80,000 annually to sustainable farming operations in endangered ecosystems!
