We offer a nature trail, four indoor exhibit halls and several outdoor gardens to explore. Most visits take between 1.5 hours to 4.5 hours, depending on length of exploration and if you attend a daily educational programming option, Spineless Spotlights.
Fluttering, flitting, flying, emerging, growing….our lush tropical conservatory is alive with 1,200 butterflies from rainforests around the world. Marvel as they emerge from their chrysalides, then watch as our staff releases them into the rainforest.
See them, watch them….even touch them! Go eye-to-eye with tarantulas, leaf insects, scorpions, beetles and giant millipedes. You can even hold Rosie, our friendly Chilean Rose Hair tarantula.
Swimming, creeping, swaying, scooting…you’ll have hands-on experiences with sea stars, horseshoe crabs, and other aquatic invertebrates as you touch and learn in our Atlantic and Pacific Ocean tide pools.
Just outside the Pavilion along Big Dry Creek is our 1/2-mile nature trail loop. Explore Colorado's native insects in their natural habitat, laugh at the antics of prairie dogs and rabbits, and if you're lucky, catch sight of a heron, hawk or eagle perched in a nearby tree!
Take a hike outside, and investigate the native habitats surrounding the Pavilion. It’s a great place to conduct a bug hunt or watch local invertebrates in action.
The Butterfly Pavilion is proud to announce the return of Tropical Odyssey, the Butterfly Pavilion's premier exhibit. Back by popular demand, the interactive exhibit is a bilingual adventure for the whole family that includes educational games, active play elements, imaginative play opportunities and interactive learning. The new and improved exhibit will feature a new educational playscape with larger-than-life caterpillars and butterflies for children to crawl and play on, as well as a zip line for soaring like a butterfly. Join us today for a journey in conservation!
