Female tarantulas can live 20 years or more after they reach maturity, but males usually die within a year and a half after reaching maturity.

 

A new exhibit at the Butterfly Pavilion
**Exhibit Extended to Jan. 23, 2011**

Legend of the Tarantula, the Butterfly Pavilion’s newest special exhibit, will allow you and your family to explore the tarantula’s secret world and learn about their anatomy, habitats, diet, behaviors and cultural significance through interactive displays featuring 18 rare tarantulas. The Victorian-themed exhibit is included with general admission.

Rosie is one of our most beloved invertebrates at the Butterfly Pavilion, and Legend of the Tarantula explores her world in greater depth in an immersion experience unlike any other at the Butterfly Pavilion. Don't miss the world premier of this brand new exhibit, with tarantulas never on display before!

Step into the world of the tarantula at the Butterfly Pavilion as you explore Legend of the Tarantula. Dispel the mystery behind the giants of the spider world, and uncover the beauty of these extraordinary creatures.
