For thousands of years the tarantula has vigorously tried to evade vicious predators such as the tarantula wasp, but now their battle is with a much more skillful and resourceful predator - humans. Tarantulas are naturally very shy creatures, but ever since the day spiders made their debut in Hollywood, they have been feared by many.
Legend of the Tarantula features 18 rare tarantula species including the Chinese Golden Earth Tiger, Kilimanjaro Baboon and Peruvian Green Velvet tarantulas. None of these species have ever been on display at the Butterfly Pavilion before this exhibit. Be the first to dispel the mystery behind the giants of the spider world and uncover the beauty of these extraordinary creatures this fall.
Legend of the Tarantula will be at the Butterfly Pavilion from September 4 to Jan. 23, 2011. Because of its popularity the exhibit has been extended!
