Common Name: Tulip Snail
Scientific Name: Fasciolaria sp.
Order: Mollusca
Range: North Carolina to Florida; through out the Gulf of Mexico and down to Brazil. Can also be found in the Indian River Lagoon
Diet: Mostly eats other gastropods and bivalves
Facts: 1. Gets its name from the shell which is shaped like a Tulip
2. Body is usually either bright orange or red
3. To escape a predator, the tulip snail either retract into its shell or thrash its body
4. Females are usually larger than males
