Reader Rail Information: The Plains Lubber grasshopper is Colorado’s largest grasshopper. They lay their egg clusters into the soil in late summer which can remain dormant for many months. They usually hatch in late spring serving our harsh winters. As the grasshoppers grow they will shed their old skin 5-7 times before reaching adult form.
