Order: Araneae

Range:
The Sugar City Brown is found only around Sugar City between Pueblo and Lamar in southeastern Colorado.

Diet: Prey consists of small invertebrates.

Reader Rail Information:
This is one of three species of tarantula found in Colorado. All are restricted to the southern regions of the state. They live on rocy hillsides among pine woodlands and grassland where pinyon pines (Pinus edulis) and junipers (Juniperus monosperma) grow. Little else is known on the biology of this species.
