Scientific Name: Eupalaestrus campestratus

Order: Araneae

Range: Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina.

Diet: Spiderlings will eat pinhead crickets and other small insects. Adults will eat crickets, other large insects, small lizards, and small mice.

Reader Rail Information: The Pink Zebra Beauty tarantula is found throughout central and western South America. This docile species often plays dead when handled. This tarantula burrows and spends most of its life in hiding, only leaving its burrow to search for food. The abdominal hairs are called urticating hairs which can be “kicked off” by the tarantula to protect it from predation.
